Sylvia Weatherspoon, WBRZ’s award-winning anchor and producer of 2 Make A Difference, talks about the gift of giving back to our community, and celebrates her fourth annual toy drive, Sylvia’s Toys For Christmas program.

Baton Rouge native, Sylvia Weatherspoon, grew up wanting a career in broadcast journalism. But, it was her family, faith and strong sense of community that would have the biggest impact on her career.

In 1993, Sylvia joined the WBRZ team after working as the news director for WJBO - AM & WFMF - FM radio. She was WBRZ's health reporter until being promoted to co-anchor the evening news. With her promotion, Sylvia brought a new segment to WBRZ. Sylvia's 2 Make A Difference segment shows how local residents are making major impacts on the community. What you'll never see on her segment is how she is making a difference.

This award-winning journalist is heavily invested in our community, participating in numerous charities and serving on several community boards. In 2015, she launched Sylvia's Toys For Christmas, a charity dedicated to collecting and distributing toys for children in our community. To Sylvia, it doesn't matter how big or small the gesture - it all makes a difference.
