The Importance of Mentoring - Changing Lives and Communities

  • East Baton Rouge Parish Library - Goodwood Branch 7711 Goodwood Boulevard Baton Rouge, LA, 70806 United States (map)

Join us for this month’s luncheon to hear Gaylynne Mack, executive director of the Big Buddy Program, talk about the importance of mentoring.

While mentoring can take place at any age, the most advantageous and rewarding involve mentoring our youth. This month's speaker will tell us how essential those relationships are to our local young people - and to our community.

Gaylynne Mack is the Proud Executive Director of the Big Buddy Program, a local non-profit, youth serving agency in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is recognized in the Baton Rouge community for her leadership, non-profit management skills, and enthusiasm about everything related to developing youth. Throughout her tenure she has been recognized by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation for Outstanding Non-Profit Leadership; by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana with an Angel Award; by the Baton Rouge City Council, East Baton Rouge Parish School District and Leadership Baton Rouge for her work with children and youth in the community.

Gay began her career volunteering with the Big Buddy Program as a Mentor and that experience changed her life, making her a life-long advocate for mentoring as a solution to the challenges faced by our communities today. She counts herself fortunate to have her career and her mission in life exist as one in the same. As a wife, and mother of 3 intelligent children ages 20, 19 and 18, her passion for youth development is fueled right in her own home. Gay is a true team player and is humbled to work with a team of individuals and partners who share the mission of the program.
